Dialog Successfully Hosts 'Google I/O Extended Sri Lanka 2023'

To the delight of tech enthusiasts across the country, Dialog Axiata PLC and Ideamart recently hosted the highly anticipated tech event ‘Google I/O Extended Sri Lanka 2023’ at Trace Expert City on May 10th.

With a heavy emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly with Google's introduction of BARD AI and Generative AI being built into most of Google’s product offerings, the Google I/O Extended event in Sri Lanka attracted over 250,000 viewers online in addition to the hundreds in attendance. The event also showcased some big reveals from Google Device portfolio, including the tech giant’s first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold. With a stunning 7.6-inch flexible OLED display and an advanced camera system, the Pixel Fold hosts 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of internal storage, and seamless integration with Google's suite of services. In addition to the long-awaited Pixel Fold, the developer conference also showcased other new devices including the Pixel 7A Android smartphone and a revamped Pixel Tablet intended for smart home control.

Attendees also experienced a range of informative and insightful tech talks such as ‘Embracing the AI revolution’ by Dr. Romesh Ranawana, Group Chief Analytics and AI Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC, ‘Exploring GSMA Open Gateway’ by Udaka Kappagoda, Head of DTE, Axiata Digital Labs, and ‘Metaverse: The Future of the Digital Interaction in the Web3 era’ by Rakshitha Kasun, CEO of R-FACTORY. The event was live-streamed across Dialog’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel, and Channel One on Dialog Television (Channel No. 126) enabling all Sri Lankans access to experience Google I/O Extended Sri Lanka 2023 in all its glory.
